Reseña del editor: This book reflects the contents of the SERC Vacation School of summer 1987 which crystallised a scientific approach to measurement science, first developed by the Department of Instrumentation and Analytical Science at University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology(UMIST), into an intensive short course. The course, geared to exposing the essential features of the subject and exemplifying their application to real processes and problems, covered a wide range of areas, such as analytical chemistry, physical science, electronic instrumentation, signal processing and applications.
