When a former revolutionary betrays a friend to the police, his one-time allies hunt him down in a brutal pursuit across the streets of 1920s Dublin.

An unflinching portrait of revolution, hatred, fear, vengeance, murder, and grace, Liam O'Flaherty's classic novel of revolutionary Ireland brought him major international acclaim, winning the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and inspiring John Ford's four-time Academy Award-winning film. As visceral as Brighton Rock and The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, as pitiless as The Talented Mr. Ripley, and as darkly entertaining as the novels of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler, The Informer is a neglected classic of noir, murder, espionage, and pursuit-and one of the great novels of Ireland.

Liam O'Flaherty (1896-1984) was an Irish novelist and short-story writer whose stark realism, psychological intensity, and deep compassion made him one of the defining voices of twentieth-century Irish literature.
