Cloth, large 8vo, 29 cm, lxiii, 798 pp. Reprint of the edition published by the Bibliographical Society of America, New York, annotated and corrected, with new introduction and list of dealers. From the introduction: "From the time the Third Census was published in 1964, it became my practice to annotate a personal copy as additional information regarding ownership, corrections, and new references became available from a variety of sources. Also a record was maintained of dealers' offerings both at home and abroad with the prices quoted as well as those copies that were to come under the auctioneer's hammer. For some of these the galleries' estimates were given, and this information was added when available.Between 1964 and 1972 an astonishing number of incunabula copies were added to libraries and collections in the United States. The great increase is reflected in the fact that the Third Census of 1964 recorded 47,188 incunabula in the United States, whereas the annotated copy records more than 51,000.A new feature of the present volume is a list of the dealers and auction houses whose names appear within the text." Booklabel of the bibliophile A R A Hobson on front pastedown endpaper, head of spine bumped, otherwise near Very Good. N° de ref. del artículo ABE-47544
