In Four Volumes. Gold lettering on the spines. Covers on all four volumes are worn. Volume I - A-DEC - xvi, 878 pages plus 112 called the Conic sections. - both inner hinges are cracked. Volume II - DEC - HIS, 772 pages; plus 460 pages going from History through to Mechanics. The book block is no longer attached to the cover of this volume, leather hinge on the front cover is starting to crack Volume III - from page 461 to 699 and from page 1 through to 896 (naval tactics through to ZYT). Front hinge is detached, back hinge is cracked; front cover leather hinge beginning to crack; last 100 pages or so show signs of water damage (from a long time ago). Volume IV - hundreds of pages of steel engravings, no text in this volume, appear to be the plates for the rest of the encyclopaedia including 21 maps (2 fold-out); the front cover has been taped into place, the back cover is completely loose. Pages show some old water damage on the lower corners. The descriptions of these volumes sound worse than they are. A very good copy of this 4 volume set with its complete title being "and Every Term of Art amply explained in Alphabetical Order. The whole including all the Modern Discoveries in Astronomy, Chemistry, Electricity, Galvanism, Geography, Domestic and Political Economy, &c. &c. &c. with General View of all Empires, Kingdoms, States, Countries, Mountains, Seas, Rivers, Lakes, &c. &c. and concise account of Patriarchs, Prophets, Apostles, Philosophers, Poets, Painters Authors and their works, Heroes, Lawyers, and Statesmen with every other topic of information essential to a work of this nature."
