Paperback. We have all heard of the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty. Humpty Dumpty was an egg, right? Maybe not. Although the familiar nursery rhyme never says that Humpty Dumpty is an egg, many continue to believe this interpretation because of its common portrayal. In a similar fashion, many believe in popular interpretations of certain Bible stories despite a lack of evidence in biblical text. In The Humpty Dumpty Effect, Rev. Brandon Bowmar explores the background and evidence for some common depictions of biblical scenes and interpretations: The apple in the garden of Eden. Was it an apple or some other fruit? The devil as the serpent in the garden of Eden. The devil is never mentioned in the entire book of Genesis, yet many think of him as the serpent. The relationship between David and Jonathan in First and Second Samuel. The magi (or wise men) from Matthew chapter two. A lot of assumptions are held about the magi: how many there were, their names, ethnicities, etc.The doctrine of the rapture. This book is academic yet engaging. Insightful, but also humorous. The Humpty Dumpty Effect guides readers through the Scriptures with the aim of reclaiming the message of the Holy Scriptures lest. The details of the Word of God need to be heard anew lest, like Humpty Dumpty, we fall down and cannot be put together again. Insight into biblical interpretation for the lay person. It explores five different topics in an intelligent and comedic way for biblical insights. It contains a variety of colorful images and a bonus word search for readers. We have all heard the nursery rhyme about Humpty Dumpty. Humpty Dumpty was an egg, right? Maybe not. Although the familiar nursery rhyme never explicitly states that Humpty Dumpty is an egg, many continue to believe this interpretation because of its common portrayal. In a similar fashion, many accept popular interpretations of certain Bible stories, despite a lack of evidence in the biblical text. In The Humpty Dumpty Effect, Rev. Brandon M. Bowmar explores the background and evidence for these common depictions of biblical scenes and interpretations:
- The apple in the garden of Eden. Was it an apple or some other fruit?
- The devil as the serpent in the garden of Eden. Although the devil is never mentioned in the entire book of Genesis, many think of him as the serpent.
- The relationship between David and Jonathan in First and Second Samuel.
- The magi (or wise men) from Matthew chapter two. A lot of assumptions are held about the magi: how many there were, their names, ethnicities, etc.
- The doctrine of the rapture.
The Humpty Dumpty Effect contains a full manuscript along with many colorful images.
