Descripción del artículo del vendedor

310; [2]pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Green cloth boards with decorations and title in black ink. Map endpapers in red and black. One leaf with publisher's adverts printed on both sides at the rear. Moderately rubbed along the board edges, spine ends, and joints. Minor foxing to the fore-edge of the text block (foxing periodically bleeds into the fore-edge margins of the pages). Hinges a bit soft (the front hinge slightly more so). Small stains in fore-edge margins of p.239/40. No dust jacket. With a frontispiece in color and 8 illustrations in black and white. Illustrated by the Author. An early George Allen & Unwin printing. The book that introduced many people to Middle-earth. In The Hobbit, Tolkien created a genre-defining fantasy world unmatched before or since, and laid the groundwork for the treasure trove of children's fantasy that followed- from Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to Harry Potter.
