Descripción del artículo del vendedor

The History of England. From the First Entrance of Julius Caesar and the Romans, to the Conclusion of the Reign of King James the Second, and the Establishment of King William and Queen Mary Upon the Throne, in the Year 1688. With a Compleat Index. By Laurence Echard and published in London for Jacob Tonson. 1720 third edition. 1150 pp. plus preface and index. 16.25” x 11”. Leather folio. Ex-library copy. As-is, with restoration work including partial rebinding of leather boards and reinforcement of hinges. Scuffing and losses present on boards. Loss of original end pages. Front board and pages prior to Preface detached together. Some chips and losses to spine, along with affixed label. Rear board attached solely by later rebinding efforts. Ex-library from the Lynn Free Public Library, with bookplate, markings, and stampings present. Includes frontispiece portrait of the author, along with portrait of King George I. Chips and losses to title page and frontispiece. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. An extremely scarce third edition. Laurence Echard (c. 1670-1730) was an English historian and clergyman who produced and edited works on English history and geographical subjects. This work is considered his most influential and would be an excellent candidate for restoration and rebinding. Priced in accordance to as-is condition and restoration needs. Please note size and weight of volume, which would particularly impact international shipping rates.
