In good condition. Modern bindings are sturdy and relatively flawless in appearance. Light wear to to extremities. Spine s gilt is mostly faded. Sturdy. Bookplate of Maurice Robert Des Marais on front end pastedown. Des Marais was a longtime faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Penn State College of Arts and Architecture and a corporate member of the American Institute of Architects. Fresh marbled end papers. Ownership markings of James O Hara Scully throughout title pages and preliminaries. Fly of volume one missing bottom segment. Interiors are typically toned with minor instances of foxing and age stain. Bindings are tight and intact. Please see photos. Sabin states, Although the name of Paul Allen is on the title, this work was written by John Neal and Mr. Watkins. A standard history of the Revolution, including printing of some letters of George Washington. James O Hara Scully provenance. The Scully s (nee Walton) were a prominent Pittsburgh coal family. James was a partner in the Eagle Iron Works on the South Side.
