Two volume set, half leather binding by Wallwork, gilt titles, raised gilt bands, blind stamped decoration to the compartments, portrait frontispiece to Vol. I. A memoir of events Wraxall witnessed or information he received from respectable sources. In this edition he admits a few libel mistakes were made and he is either making corrections or simply leaving this information out of his work. Vol. I iv, 549pp. Vol. II 583pp. Approximately 8 ¼ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles on green labels, 5 raised gilt bands, blind stamped decoration to the compartments. Joints good condition gently rubbed and worn. Corners good condition gently bumped and worn. Boards good condition half leather with cloth boards, binding by Wallwork. Page edges good condition top edges darkened, all tanned and foxed. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition plain, the book binder s name printed along the top edge of the front paste down in both volumes, tanned and foxed End papers good condition plain, tanned and foxed as are the subsequent end papers. Title good condition Vol. I is heavily tanned and foxed with offsetting from the frontispiece, Vol. II is lightly tanned with minor foxing. Pages good condition Vol. I has b/w portrait frontispiece Sir N. William Wraxall, Bart. the top corner of page 10 in Vol. I is torn and only holding on by a very small piece, not impacting the text, lightly tanned throughout both volumes with minor foxing in places.
