When a breakthrough meant to heal the brain becomes something the government wants to control, you know you're onto something worth keeping. Inside the Helix Cognitive Regeneration Center, a team of scientists and neurologists are testing HX-9-a revolutionary drug designed to regenerate the damaged brain and offer hope against diseases once thought irreversible.

But during the initial trial, the U.S. Armed Forces see the potential for something far greater. The super soldier. One capable of adapting faster, learning quicker, and surviving situations the human brain was never designed to endure.

Once the military and the greed of a powerful company become involved, what began as a quest to fight diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's becomes part of a military operation with consequences no one could have predicted.

When the dead begin to fall. And some of them get back up. Now the people who created HX-9 must fight not only for what they originally set out to accomplish, but to contain the nightmare that has been handed back to them.

Helix: The Trial Chronicles is a journey through ambition, discovery, success, failure-and the terrifying space between them. The brain may be just another organ. But in the right hands, it can engine the body.

What was once a two-book story has been reconstructed to its original vision. Better character arcs, clearer vision, and most of all, not your typical zombie apocalypse.

Randy R. Gillespie is the author of the HELIX series, a grounded biomedical thriller exploring the collision of science, military power, and human consequence. His work blends cinematic pacing with deeply researched medical and technological realism, focusing on characters forced to confront ethical collapse in moments where survival and morality can no longer coexist.

Drawing from a fascination with systems-how they're built, weaponized, and ultimately fail-Gillespie's storytelling avoids supernatural shortcuts in favor of plausible science pushed just beyond its breaking point. His narratives emphasize psychological realism, moral accountability, and the terrifying momentum of ideas once control is lost.
