This famous work was made just after World War II, while Thomas Tindale was a consultant to the Japanese government. . THE SEKI COLLECTION OF ANCIENT PAPER SAMPLES: The work contains the oldest authenticated samples of early Washi paper ever collected and placed into book form. The first sample is a Komashi made in 740 CE. Equal to Tempyo 12th year, during the reign of Emperor Shomu Tenno [729-749 CE]. Other samples continue from 12th century down to 1923. .
