When ruthless poachers descend on a breathtaking Wyoming meadow with plans to raze it for a hunting lodge, the lives of every creature within are shattered forever. Now, in the face of destruction, something extraordinary happens: predators and prey set aside their ancient rivalries and unite to defend their beloved home against the rifle-toting invaders. Set against the sweeping grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, The Great Timbers is an electrifying, award-winning tale of friendship, sacrifice, dignity, loyalty, and all-out war.

Hailed as a landmark of literary animal fiction in the tradition of Richard Adams' Watership Down, George Orwell's Animal Farm, and Johnathan Durham's Winterset Hollow, this is the story where the hunters finally meet their match.
The animals have had enough... and they're fighting back.

Bold and breathtaking, The Great Timbers is a fantasy adventure with zero profanity and 100% heart, beloved by middle-grade readers and adults alike. This electrifying coming-of-age story plunges deep into found family, the brutal reality of poaching, magical realism, and the fierce, unbreakable bonds of friendship.

Note: Contains animal and human death. If that content is not suitable for you, we do not recommend this book.

"Absolutely loved this book! I'm a big fan of books that are telling simple stories with much deeper themes, like Animal Farm and Watership Down and this book hits the bullseye. Its an easy read (read it in one leisurely day) with fantastic characters and a palpable sense of tension and foreboding throughout. I will be revisiting sooner than later. Buying a copy for my 13 year old niece! Highly recommended!" - Amazon reviewer

"Man what a story! From start to finish, this fictional tale of what could happen to poachers who don't follow the rules of compassion for animals. The author did a great job in creating a fictional story where wildlife and hunters clash when wildlife has had enough of humans desecrating them. My hat is off to you, Kane, for bringing out the voices of God's creatures to all the poachers everywhere. Great book!" - Amazon reviewer
