Print on Demand. This book is a fascinating account of one of the most shocking and daring forgeries ever committed. The author meticulously details the elaborate scheme orchestrated by William Roupell, a Member of Parliament, to defraud his family out of their rightful inheritance. Unveiling the intricate web of deceit, the author explores the motivations behind Roupell's actions, delving into the depths of greed, ambition, and desperation that drove him to commit such a heinous crime. The story unfolds against the backdrop of Victorian England, a time of great social and economic change, where the pursuit of wealth and power often overshadowed moral principles. Through a skillful examination of firsthand accounts, legal documents, and expert analysis, the author unravels the complexities of this extraordinary case. The reader is guided through the meticulous planning and execution of the forgery, the subsequent discovery of the truth, and the dramatic trial that ensued. This book is not merely a tale of crime and punishment but also a profound meditation on the human capacity for both good and evil. It sheds light on the devastating consequences that can arise from unchecked ambition and the importance of upholding integrity in all its forms. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

- Biography and Autobiography
Mr. Snnmanr Smut - Gentlemen, though for the purpose of pos sessing you at once of the real question you have to decide, I state the substance of it in this summary way, it will be necessary for me to ex plain to you somewhat more in detail the circumstances of a case of much more than usual interest and importance, and in which not merely the pecuni interest of the plaintiff and the defendant, but the honour and c aracter, and erhaps the liberty, of a gentleman who lately filled a prominent position in the public e e as member for the boron h of Lambeth, are deeply, and I fear hope easly, involved. The late r. Roupell, whom for the convenience of this cause I will call the testator, spent along life in the business of a lead-smelter. He had a factory in Gravel-lane, Blackfriars, close to Doctors' Commons, and a residence, N o. 16, Cross-street, in the immediate neighbourhood of it. He had also a house at Brixton, called Aspen-house, at which his wife and family resided, and he was in the habit of going to Aspen-house every Saturday afternoon, returning to Cross-street on Monday, where he slept on the other nights of the week. By the lady who became a widow at his death, he had five children, four of whom, John, William, Sarah, and Emma, were born before the deed of the 6th December, 1838, when he and Mrs. Roupell married; and a fifth child, a son, the plaintiff in this cause, who was born on the 27th of July, 1840.
