First edition published 1881.Hardback, cloth bound in olive green with black embossed titles and logo to front and gold embossed titles with black to spine. cover is in fair condition with wear to edges and top and bottom of spine; also corners and front edge. Also some light scratches to back. Inscription to front end paper. Right hand side of front endpaper missing. title page is brown and first couple of pages are foxed. Small ink-splash across last pages at outside edge. Pages 237-240 are loose. Pencil study marks throughout but generally in good condition.
