Here, for the first time, is the true, untold story of the 13 survivors of the U.S.S. Sims (DD-409), sunk in action during the Battle of the Coral Sea. First-hand accounts of survivors and never before published letters from crew members and their families reveal a story of courage, hope, friendship and love undaunted by the horrors of war. This riveting work of military history brings readers face-to-face with the human toll of war and takes them deep inside the action, from the “Neutrality Patrols” in the perilous North Atlantic to the battle that gave America its first strategic victory of World War II.
