Chapter One
Rising of the Flames* * *
It seemed like an ordinary Friday. I was walking home from school with a nice, warm, summer breeze on my face. Bright green leaves on the trees were dancing in the wind.
On my back, I was carrying a heavy load of schoolwork in my light gray book bag. I was wearing a black T—shirt, bearing the words "Never give up and never give in" in big white letters. It made me stand out and make me feel proud. I was wearing black and white sweat pants. My hair is thick and as black as a marker. I have dark eyes like a brown crayon. My dark purple glasses make me look smarter. I am thin you can see more bones than meat, but I am well built and I have good upper and lower body strength.
As I approached my house, I walked down the driveway, past the light green lawn, and into my two-story red brick house with its light brown oak door. I opened the door and walked into my living room. A 10 foot tall robot with heavy silver body armor and glowing red eyes stands before me with a giant sliver ray gun locked on to me.
I jumped just as it fired with a giant kaboom! An exploded as loud as a building being blown to the ground. It made a hole the size of a crater in the house.
Furiously, I got out my knife, but then I stupidly realized that it wouldn't pierce the robot's armor so I got a chair to slam against him, then I thought that was dumb, so I ran out of the house where there were a lot of people who had gathered because they heard the explosion. Since there were many people around I thought that the robot would chase someone else. I turned around and saw it was still chasing me. Everyone was looking but nobody helped.
Suddenly, there was a weird sound; it sounded like a high pitch fire alarm. After the sound stopped, I looked around and saw that something strange was happening to all the people around me. They were turning into robots suddenly metal started surrounding the town's people's body. The sound changed everyone who heard it clearly into robots, but it didn't affect me because I was listening to my favorite Pretty Ricky song very loudly. Then I remember I hate Pretty Ricky and threw my iPod to the ground smashing it into a million tiny pieces.
"01101000110!" The robots shouted.
Suddenly, a warm hand grabs me and a voice of an angel screamed. "Hurry we need to get out of here!"
I turned around to see that she was a beautiful blond haired girl about my age. She has fair skin, and has light gray eyes. She was wearing a light blue sleeveless shirt with navy blue jeans. She is heavier than me, and is a little short.
"What's going on?" I demanded.
"The whole town in which you live have been turned into robots," the girls answered.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"My name is Sara Lake and what you see before you is a robot race that is called, 'The Iron Steal.' They go to other worlds and take what they need and blow up the planet,"
"What we need is a hero that can save our world and that is you,"
"Me?! Sorry, but you got the wrong person here. How do you expect me to save the world?"
"The story says that a hero with super powers—"
"What powers? I don't have any powers!"
"Not yet but there is a way you can get powers," Sara said.
"How can I?"
"Isn't going to be easy, but have you ever heard of a being called the Phoenix?" Sara asked.
* * *
"The Phoenix what the heck, I thought it was just a myth!"
"In your world, yes, it's a myth, but in my world, it is real as it can be,"
"Wow! You are serious aren't you?"
"Yes, I am telling you the truth," Sara alleged.
"Well then, if what you're saying is true, then alright I'll be your hero, but how do we get there?"
"We can get there by my portal watch," It looked like a normal watch all black but with lots of buttons. When she pushed a button on her watch, we disappeared in a white flash of light.
We were able to get to Sara's world, but it was a wasteland like desert sand blowing in the wind and no sign of life for miles only the burning blaze of the sun.
"What happened here?"
"This is what the Iron Steel has done to my home," Sara replied. "This place was once a nice world; with flowers that cover the whole land, water so pure you can drink from it. The land covered in lush light green fields and mountains so tall you can almost touch the sky. "It was good, but all that changed when the Iron Steel came. Their Boss Doom Metal took everyone and everything I cared!" Sara howled into the wind.
"Hey no need to worry I'll save them and I know we just met but you still have me. Oh, I forgot to tell you my name is Abubakar Garba, but since my name is hard to say, I also go by my nickname Abu as well," I alleged.
"Thank you Abub—" Sara was trying to say.
"Trust me just call me Abu it's a lot easier," I interrupted her.
"Heh—heh—okay Abu it is," Sara giggled.
"You see laughter always make you feel better when you are down, crying about it won't do anything you are going to have to be strong for them," I said.
"You are right you are quite wise for your age," Sara responded with a smile.
"Thank you," I said while rubbing the back of my head.
"Well, we won't get anything done just by standing here,"
"Same here, so where is the Phoenix?"
"Up there on top of that volcano,"
"Whoa! Up there huh? Then let's go,"
"Man! It sure is hot up here, do you see the Phoenix?"
The volcano was huge and still active and it's dark as coal. The lava was a deep liquid red so burning hot it feels like your skin is melting off. However, sadly other than the sun this is the only thing that is life in this desert wasteland.
"I see the Phoenix!"
"That's the Phoenix?! I was hoping to see a giant bird cover in flames, but all I can see is a little orb,"
It's the size of a tennis ball and the fire still moving like an animal trapped inside a compact cage.
"It is the Phoenix, but as an orb at first. However, when the Phoenix's power is awaken, then it can be active,"
"Don't worry about it I'll get it," I alleged.
"I don't think so!" Said a ground breaking voice which made you think the ground is opening under your feet.
"Who said that?" we shouted.
"It is I Doom Metal," He looked like a grown man, but he was silver covered metal and had glowing dark red eyes.
"I must thank you Sara for leading me to the Phoenix," Doom Metal smirked. I never would expect it to even be here in this wasteland,"
"You are not getting the Phoenix!" Sara yelled.
"Then who is going to get it then?" Doom Metal questioned.
"He is going to get it!" Sara replied while pointing to me.
"That's right I'm getting it!" I shouted.
"Bah—hah—you're joking right! A kid having unlimited power?" Doom Metal questioned.
"Hey! I'm 24years old I'm not a kid!" I shouted while, stomping my feet.
"I don't think so," Doom Metal said in a deep tone. "Robot soldiers attack!" Doom Metal shouted. Then coming from above the sky out came over thirty giant metal robots with swords, and axes with dark glowing red eyes.
"Great! We're out numbered," I said.
"I'll take care of them get the orb," Sara declared.
"Oh no you don't, you little human," Doom Metal said while blocking my path.
"Well, bring it on. I have been waiting for a fight," I alleged.
"Well then, get ready this fight you're going to die," Doom Metal alleged.
"Take this, Laser Blast!" Doom Metal shouted. A ray giant gun fired like a huge dark blue blast of electric plasma beam at me.
I jumped into the air and avoided the blast just by a hair.
"Man! That was almost too close!" I muttered.
"Abu, catch!" Sara yelled.
It was a long edge 8ft silver sword with a golden handle and a black sheath. "Thanks Sara, alright Doom Metal you are going to be defeated!" I shouted.
* * *
"Hah—hah—hah—," Doom Metal laughed.
"What's so dang funny?" I asked.
"To think a weak human can beat me," he replied.
"Well, we will just see then," I said.
"Take this laser pulse blast!" Doom Metal shouted. Out came a beam of electric plasma, but bigger than the one before. I jumped to avoid the attack. I came down and cut his arm off.
Doom Metal screamed.
I then cut his right leg off, causing him to fall into lava.
"You will pay for this!" Doom Metal howled.
"Abu, help me!" Sara yelled.
"What?! Sara?! Oh no, darn it. She has been kidnapped!" I screamed.
I saw the robots carrying Sara away in a huge electric blue bubble.
"It was a trap all this time, and we fell for it, man! What else could happen?" I muttered.
I heard a timer going off. I looked down to see that it wasn't Doom Metal at all it was a bomb bot, and it was about to blow.
"Man! Me and my big mouth. I was hoping that I was able to get out of here. Now I really have to get out of here!" I yelled.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... 0 ... Kaboom! An explosion erupted so powerfully that it caused the whole volcano to erupt and lava started to come pouring out like a huge wave of water crashing into the side of a cliff at the edge of the sea.
I ran with all the speed that I had like a fly trying to evade a person with a newspaper.
When I was able to get away from the volcano, I found a letter on the ground, and I picked it up and read it.
Dear Kid, If you want to see that little friend of yours alive, bring me the orb. Doom Metal
"What am I going to do now?" I asked myself.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I saw a giant dragon came down, landing right in front of me. It was the size of a truck; it had bright blue scales and had eyes of fire with a letter tied around its neck.
"Wow! Two letters and in one day, must be my lucky day," I said sarcastically.
I opened the letter and started to read it and it said,
Dear Abu, This is my dragon. His name is Blue heart. I am held at Doom Metal's fort it is heavily sealed. Be careful here is the information to the location of his fort. Sara.
"We need to get your master Blue Heart; so let's go!" I shouted.
"Raaa!" it roared.
We flew to the fort; and it was as big as two of the tallest buildings in a city and had a dark grayish look in the dark storm. We flew around the place then were able to find Sara. She was dirtied up, but fine.
"Abu, Blue Heart. You're both here!" Sara cried out.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"I am fine; I found my family and friends," Sara alleged.
"When did this happen?!" I exclaimed.
"When I was sent to a jail cell, I passed by their cells. We have to save them now," Sara said with high hopes.
"Don't worry. We will save them, but we have to get you out of here first," I said.
Blue Heart blew down the window with dark red flames.
Suddenly, we heard the alarm go off, and we were spotted. Blue Heart flew as fast as he could; then the Iron Steel started firing lasers at us. We were able to dodge of the first shot. The next shot hit Blue Heart's wings, which turned them into metal. We started falling through the sky.
Sara and I screamed.
Then they fired a giant magnet ray at us, pulling us into the fortress.
"Oh man we've been captured what can we do now?" I thought.
* * *
"Heh ... heh ... I must say you are good, but did you really think you could beat me?" Doom Metal asked.
Sara, Blue Heart, and I were captured. We are now facing the real Doom Metal; he is about as big as a two story house and has dark glowing red eyes.
"Don't think for a second that just because you have the orb doesn't mean you know how to use it!" I shouted.
"Give me the orb or they will pay the price!" Doom Metal yelled.
"What price?! What do you mean?" I asked.
"This!" Doom Metal shouted while pointing up to the roof.
I look up and gasp to see that Sara and her family were in a cage hanging above a pool of melted boiling metal.
"If you don't give me the orb they will be put on display around my fort," Doom Metal said with a grin.
"You're good for nothing, heartless rust bucket monster. You won't get away with this!" I shouted.
"Abu, don't give it to him. Don't worry about us!" Sara screamed.
"If I don't you all will die Gr—Fine, Doom Metal you can have the orb!" I shouted.
I threw Doom Metal the orb and he catches it with his huge hands.
"Abu, think about what you're doing!" Sara yelled.
"Doom Metal, you have what you wanted, so let them go!" I shouted.
"Hah—hah—" Doom Metal cackled.
"What are you laughing about now?" I shouted.
"Thanks for the orb fool!" Doom Metal yelled in an evil, deep tone.
"Let them go now!" I shouted while all my muscles tighten like harden rubber.
"Oh, I'll let them go alright," Doom Metal said with a grin.
"To their death say good bye to them!" Doom Metal shouted.
"What?! We had a deal, you backstabbing robot brain monster!" I yelled.
He pulled the lever causing the cage to fall.
They screamed.
"No! What have I done!" I shouted.
Down they were going. I jumped and was able to catch the cage, and it was very light.
"How come I am able to carry the cage so easily?" I asked.
"That is because in our world, power and speed is doubled," Sara said.
"Heh—heh—man thank goodness for that," I presumed.
I placed the cage down on the ground and let everyone out.
"Abu, thank you for saving us!" Sara shouted.
"Don't worry about it," I said.
"Hah—hah—" Metal Doom laughed.
"Now that I have the Phoenix's powers, there is no one in the world who has a chance of stopping me ever!" Metal Doom shouted.
"Humph—well if you can, use the power then prove it." I said with a grin.
"Fine I will show you all!" Metal Doom shouted. "I summon the power of the Phoenix!" "What it's not working!" Metal Doom yelled.
"Humph—that's because you're holding a ruby that I found on the ground before getting here. You dumb metal freak," I said. I pulled the orb out of my pocket.
Then it started to glow bright red. "What's going on Sara?" I asked.
"Wow! This is shocking; it has chosen its master and that's you, Abu!" Sara exclaimed.
"Well then, if I am its master then I will stop Doom Metal. So I have to say I summon the power of the Phoenix and I'm able to use the power, am I right?" I asked.
"Yes, that is right," Sara replied.
"Alright then, let's get ready Sara. I want you to get everyone out of here," I said.
"Alright, just give me the word," She whispered.
"Doom Metal, this is it; your rule over this world will end once and for all!" I screamed.
"We will see to that boy!" Doom Metal shouted.
"Then let's finish this!" "I summon the power of the Phoenix!" I yelled.
* * *
There was a bright flash of red, which sounded like a gas tank exploding, and then it faded. There I was, with Dragon skin armor, pants of Kevlar that were a deep blazing silver color, and the sword Sara gave me, which has now changed is now a 9-foot long blazing weapon.
"Let's rumble!"
"Now die, Laser Beam Blast!" Doom Metal shouted. A huge energy of light came right toward me. I pulled out my sword and cut right through the attack.
"What?! Now you will die Lighting Pulse!" A huge, powerful blast of white light came towards me at a high rate of speed. I jumped out of the way and the attack hit the wall, making a huge hole in it.
"Heh ... now it's my turn, take this, Fire Canon!" A huge blast of flaming energy went smashing into Doom Metal; the impact was so hard it sent him flying into the wall.
"That hurt just a little bit, but it will have to take a lot more to bring me down," Doom Metal groaned.
"Whoa! He took him down with just one hit!" Sara exclaimed.
"Come on, is that all you've got you rust bucket?" I asked.
