She couldn't have him. So she made sure no one else could either.
She was not a superstitious woman. A university education. Years of fieldwork. The kind of person who needed a mechanism before she'd believe in anything.
Then a friend's love brought her name into a stranger's engagement -- and a rejected bride-to-be turned to something older and darker than jealousy to make sure it never went any further.
What followed was a taveez hidden inside a mattress. Pages of the Quran desecrated and turned into weapons. A household's food and drink turned against them. A wardrobe soaked through with blood that no one could explain. Phone calls that failed only between two specific people, year after year, for reasons no engineer could diagnose. A snake. A swarm. Four children who never drew breath.
This is a true account, shared directly with the author by the woman who lived it -- a story of obsession, faith, and a family's slow unraveling that is, as far as anyone involved knows, still not finished happening.
- A true, first-person account -- names and identifying details changed to protect those involved
- 111 pages of narrative nonfiction horror
- For readers of real-life supernatural accounts, true crime, and occult nonfiction
- The first book in an ongoing series of real, unexplained stories
Some of it you will want to explain away. By the end, you may find you can't.
