Paperback. The Ghost Files is not a horror story or a work of fiction. It is a documentary study of recorded ghost reports, apparitions, haunted houses, seances, mediumship, poltergeist claims, and related testimony preserved in public archives, newspapers, periodicals, psychical research records, and historical investigations. The book examines how these reports were collected, classified, disputed, and preserved. It does not claim to prove the existence of ghosts. Instead, it follows the documents themselves: what witnesses reported, what investigators recorded, what archives preserved, and where the surviving evidence remains incomplete or uncertain.Written in a clear, serious, and accessible style, this book is for readers interested in ghost reports, psychical research, historical mysteries, seance records, haunted-house documentation, archival testimony, and the strange borderland between history, belief, investigation, and public record. The Ghost Files is not a work of fiction, and it is not a collection of horror stories. It is a serious documentary and historical study of how reports of ghosts, apparitions, haunted houses, and séances were recorded, classified, and preserved in public archives.
This book examines the actual paper trail of the unexplained. It analyzes how witnesses reported their experiences, how investigators tested those claims, and how institutions like the Society for Psychical Research built case files out of oral traditions and newspaper clippings.
To understand the structure of this book, it is important to know how it is organized. The first section establishes the methodological framework. It explains how historical documents are read, how testimony is separated from proof, and how archives are navigated. The actual case files and detailed reports of phenomena begin in Part III. From that point onward, the book presents the categorized records of crisis apparitions, domestic disturbances, poltergeist claims, and famous investigations such as Borley Rectory.
Inside this book, you will discover:
- A clear guide to the documentary method used to analyze historical paranormal reports.
- An exploration of spiritualist periodicals, psychical research archives, and the IAPSOP collections.
- Detailed files of reported phenomena, including visual apparitions, auditory disturbances, and deathbed visions.
- A comprehensive analysis of séance records, physical mediumship, and the history of fraud and exposure.
- Case studies of famous investigators and the modern methods they developed to test the unexplained.
This book does not claim to prove the existence of ghosts. Its purpose is historical and analytical. It is written for researchers, historians, skeptics, and readers who are fascinated by the borderland between history, belief, and public record.
If you are looking for a narrative horror book or a simple collection of supernatural tales, this is not the right book for you. If you want a rigorous and analytical exploration of how the unexplained entered the historical archive, The Ghost Files will provide a deep and rewarding journey.
