- Libro 2 de 4: TJ Cat and the Superhero Series
Young children between 7 and 10, and even younger, are often fascinated with young animals, and enjoy reading and hearing about them. This series, TJ Cat and the Superheroes, presents as characters, TJ Cat and his superhero friends, who through their superhero club, try to help others in need.
LET’S GET A RIDE: TJ CAT AND THE SUPERHEROES, the third book in this series, describes the empathy that these little animal characters show when they try to get a ride to school for two little characters who would otherwise have too long a walk to get to school. TJ Cat and the superheroes hatch a plan while on the school bus and, with much effort, succeed in helping the little animals to get a ride to school over a period of time.
LET’S GET A RIDE: TJ CAT AND THE SUPERHEROES shows that children are not too small to have bright ideas and not too little to put these ideas to work. This story helps children to see themselves as being able to accomplish great things, if they think of themselves as being brave, kind and caring about others.
LET’S GET A RIDE: TJ CAT AND THE SUPERHEROES teaches young children to empathize, think, respect each other’s ideas, and cooperate with others to come up with workable solutions. This book helps young children develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and to take pride in their accomplishments. This story sends the message that little children can make a difference in their communities and be good citizens.
LET’S GET A RIDE: TJ CAT AND THE SUPERHEROES uses the images of different little animal characters and draws on the interests of many children, who may like different animals. The use of different types of animals also tells the story of diversity and equity, with all the different little animals having the opportunity to contribute. The use of the superhero theme, with the message that “anyone can be a superhero”, also resonates with young children who at this age are eager to do things to please.
Overall, LET’S GET A RIDE: TJ CAT AND THE SUPERHEROES will help young children develop a love for reading, as they follow the actions and activities of their little animal friends, TJ Cat and his buddies. This book is also an early reader that helps young children learn to read independently. The nature of the story is such that it nurtures curiosity in children.
