Paperback. The binding held. The darkness was contained. They won.And then the world cracked open anyway. The fractures appear without warning across Aethoria - tears in the fabric of reality that let things through which were never meant to arrive. The seven are scattered by the same dimensional shockwave that caused them, pulled apart and deposited into separate shattered realms: fire and salt and storm and deep ocean and floating stone. Each of them alone. Each of them changed. But the fractures are more than a crisis. They are a mechanism. A shared vision reveals what was lost when reality cracked - seven primordial fragments scattered into seven realms, each carrying an elemental essence older than any kingdom or king. The Cinder Core. The Storm Heart. The Verdant Shard. And four others, waiting in places that do not appear on any map.Assemble all seven at the world's structural center, and the fractures can be sealed.Except the realms are not simply obstacles to walk through. Each one is alive, each one is suffering, and each one is asking something specific from the person who ends up inside it. The fire realm wants someone who can speak to grief that has been burning for three centuries. The storm realm wants someone who can hold still inside something enormous. The twilight realm wants someone willing to witness what was built before it's gone. The Unmaker is moving through the damage toward the world's center. The Shatterfall is consuming the furthest realms and spreading inward. They have days. Perhaps fewer. And the mechanism that seals the fractures requires something that none of them knew when they started - a cost that Eldra has been carrying quietly, and must now put down. The Gathering: Shattered Realms is the third book in the ten-book epic fantasy series, following seven people who ended the world's last crisis and are now discovering that what you do after the victory determines what the victory was worth. The binding held. The darkness was contained. They won.
And then the world cracked open anyway.
The fractures appear without warning across Aethoria — tears in the fabric of reality that let things through which were never meant to arrive. The seven are scattered by the same dimensional shockwave that caused them, pulled apart and deposited into separate shattered realms: fire and salt and storm and deep ocean and floating stone. Each of them alone. Each of them changed.
But the fractures are more than a crisis. They are a mechanism. A shared vision reveals what was lost when reality cracked — seven primordial fragments scattered into seven realms, each carrying an elemental essence older than any kingdom or king. The Cinder Core. The Storm Heart. The Verdant Shard. And four others, waiting in places that do not appear on any map.
Assemble all seven at the world's structural center, and the fractures can be sealed.
Except the realms are not simply obstacles to walk through.
And the mechanism that seals the fractures requires something that none of them knew when they started — a cost that Eldra has been carrying quietly, and must now put down.
The Gathering: Shattered Realms is the third book in the ten-book epic fantasy series, following seven people who ended the world's last crisis and are now discovering that what you do after the victory determines what the victory was worth. The gifts they carried into the shattered realms are growing. The things they carried out of them will stay longer.
