Descripción del artículo del vendedor

No stated date c1910. Presumed first edition thus. 143pp., colour frontispiece of a roulette wheel and 2 other colour plates, and a 2-page publisher's catalogue. Victor Silberer (1846-1924) was an Austrian journalist, writer, politician and pioneer of Austrian aviation. He was also a gambling expert, and this book is a concise and technical guide to two of the most iconic gambling games at the famed Monte Carlo casino. It is a reprint of the technical chapters from Silberer’s earlier work, Vom Grünen Tisch in Monte Carlo ("From the Green Table in Monte Carlo"), and is designed for readers seeking a clear, systematic understanding of roulette and trente et quarante. The book outlines the formal rules, table layout, betting procedures, and house advantages, aiming to educate both casual players and serious gamblers. For this authorised translation, additions have been made by the author. The book is bound in the original red cloth covered boards with gold titling on the front board (there is no titling on the spine and this appears to be as issued). The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling to the boards and the spine is slightly browned. There is also some patchy damp marking and a few small stains on the boards and some patches of loss of colour near the top of the fore edge of the rear board. The cloth on the bottom edge of the rear board has two bits of damage and a piece of the cloth measuring about 1/4" x 1/2" is missing. The spine ends are bumped with some damage and a little loss to the cloth at the bottom of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with some foxing to the first 8 pages, including the title-page, and a circled number has been written near the top corner of the front free endpaper.
