Descripción del artículo del vendedor

[6], 262, [1] pages. Paperback; H 22.75cm x L 15.75cm. Stiff paper covers soiled and mildly curled at fore-edges, creasing to front cover's bottom corner and rear cover's top corner, short tears at heel of front joint and head of rear joint. Some soiling to edges. Covers once detached from text block but somewhat rectified by past owner's old tape repairs; two browned tape strips on front cover's verso overlapping onto frontispiece's blank recto; five browned tape strips on rear cover's recto and rear free endpaper's opposing verso. Occasional light soiling to interior pages but overall leaves remain clean; interior text block remains firmly bound. Includes unpaged leaves of color plates and advertisements interspersed amongst text. Front cover's color pictorial illustration by the author; frontispiece and several other color illustrations signed "Jesus" demonstrating a rather charming style; several b/w illustrations signed A.X. Pena with at least three (on pages 16, 80, and 118) dated for 1939; b/w photographs as well. Large color foldout map tipped-in between front cover verso and opposing front free endpaper recto; map credited to Pedro Caballero. A good copy but an interesting guidebook with an American expatriate's extensive impressions and travel advice for all parts of Mexico. OCLC cites several editions of Goolsby's guidebook but only two editions with firm dates, a 145 page edition published in 1936 and a 280 page Mexico City imprint published in 1941. The El Paso Public Library indicates that their 226 page edition is dated 1938. Thus, if pagination can be used as a determinant along with the aforementioned Pena illustrations, this copy should date from either 1939 or 1940.
