Two volumes in an elegant Bumpus binding (unsigned but identified by other signed Bumpus binding in the same set), with gilt titles to red and green leather labels, gilt decoration to the compartments, five raised bands and black blind stamped decoration to the boards. Contents include: Truth, Conformity, Despair, Recreation, Greatness, Improvement in the Condition of the Rural Poor, That Slavery is Cruel, Is Needless, Is Unauthorized, etc. etc. Vol I [vi], 298. Vol II [viii], 278pp. Provenance: no inscriptions or bookplates. Approximately 6 ¾ inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles to red and green leather labels, with gilt decorations, rubbed and worn with loss to the labels and spine ends. Joints good condition sound rubbed. Corners good condition bumped and worn. Boards good condition blind stamped, marked and worn. Page edges good condition top edges darkened, all red. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact. Paste downs good condition marbled. End papers good condition marbled, foxed and tanned subsequently.
