Paperback. "Fish Preferred" is a classic work of British humor by the legendary P. G. Wodehouse, transporting readers to the idyllic yet chaotic setting of Blandings Castle. This delightful novel follows the intricate web of romantic entanglements and social mishaps involving the eccentric Lord Emsworth, his beloved prize-winning pig, the Empress of Blandings, and his headstrong nephew, Ronnie Fish. The plot centers on Ronnie's determined efforts to marry a chorus girl, a situation further complicated by the existence of a scandalous set of memoirs written by Galahad Threepwood. These memoirs threaten to expose the youthful indiscretions of the British aristocracy, leading to a series of frantic schemes, mistaken identities, and hilariously high-stakes negotiations. Wodehouse showcases his unparalleled wit and mastery of the English language, delivering a narrative that is both a sharp satire of the upper classes and a warm-hearted comedy of manners. As one of the standout entries in the Blandings Castle saga, "Fish Preferred" remains a cornerstone of 20th-century comedic literature. Its cast of memorable characters, including the dignified butler Beach and the formidable Honorable Galahad, ensures a reading experience filled with charm, clever plotting, and timeless literary value. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
