Hardcover. "The First Disciples of Saint Dominic" offers a profound exploration into the lives and spiritual journeys of the earliest followers of the Order of Preachers. Adapted and expanded from the historical research of Father Antoine Touron, this work provides detailed biographical accounts of the men who stood alongside Saint Dominic during the foundational years of the Dominican Order. The text delves into the diverse backgrounds of these disciples, highlighting their shared commitment to the ideals of poverty, preaching, and intellectual rigor. Readers will discover the missionary zeal that drove these figures to spread the Gospel across Europe, establishing the order's presence in major university centers and defending the faith against contemporary challenges. This volume serves as both a historical record and a source of spiritual inspiration, documenting the virtues and sacrifices of those who shaped the early identity of the Dominicans. Through these narratives, the work captures the essence of the thirteenth-century religious revival and the enduring legacy of Saint Dominic's vision for a community dedicated to truth and the salvation of souls. It remains a valuable resource for those interested in Catholic history, hagiography, and the development of mendicant religious orders. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
