[From Special Note] This manual covers the theory, installation, operation, etc. of the FT-3B Inspection System and its use in connection with the Starwheel Rejection System, the Slat Rejection System and the Belt Rejection System. Details for the Rejection Systems are supplied in a SEPARATE manual. It is very important that BOTH the inspection System and Rejection System manuals be carefully studied before the FILTEC System is installed. The various systems have different requirements that must be met to ensure satisfactory operation. [From Introduction] The FILTEC was developed by Industrial Dynamics to supply an ever increasing demand in the packaging industry for Automatic Inspection Equipment. In the past, an operator could inspect a packaging line for package defects such as: underfills, overfills, foreign ingredients, badly scuffed bottles, cracked finishes, missing labels and the absence of caps but, the high speed of present day lines hinders effective inspection by manual operators. It is impossible for a person to concentrate on several operations with an effective degree of reliability,thus FILTEC was designed to perform a combination of these inspection operations automatically. FILTEC has the capability of detecting and rejecting underfills, overfills, missing caps, and many other inspection functions including the absence of foam and the presence of labels.
