Print on Demand. This book details the remarkable story of the Danforth family, whose journey from their humble beginnings in England to prominence in America is a testament to their enduring legacy. The author traces the family's lineage from Nicholas Danforth, who fled religious persecution in England to establish a new life in the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the 17th century. Through meticulous research, the author sheds light on the family's contributions to the American Revolution and their subsequent role in shaping the political, religious, and social landscape of the young nation. The book explores the family's deep commitment to education, with many members serving as ministers, teachers, and scholars, and their unwavering pursuit of public service, holding positions of leadership in government, law, and the military. The author's engaging narrative and rich historical context bring to life the challenges and triumphs faced by the Danforths, making this book an invaluable resource for anyone interested in American history, genealogy, or the enduring impact of family on shaping the course of a nation. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

Reseña del editor
Agreeably to notice which had been widely circulated, the fifth meeting of the Danforth Family convened in the Meionaon, Boston, on Wednesday, September I, 1886, the number present being over two hundred.
In the absence of the president, Hon. Peter S. Danforth, the meeting was called to order by the secretary, Charles C. Danforth of Concord, N.H., and William S. Danforth of Plymouth, Mass., was unanimously chosen to preside.
On taking the chair, Mr. Danforth expressed thanks for the distinction conferred, and, in a few well-chosen remarks, congratulated the company on the agreeable circumstances in which they met to renew old friendships and to form new ones; unitedly to revive the memories of our revered ancestry, and to hand down its traditions and its high principles to those who are to follow us.
Rev. Horace M. Danforth of Oswego offered a suitable and impressive prayer.
In behalf of the committee, Mr. John J.May welcomed to Boston and to the meeting the guests who, by their presence, were showing their interest in the family traditions. Though not bearing the family name, he had long been closely connected therewith; and, having of late been collating the family records, he had been charged with the duty of issuing the notices of this meeting. Of many whose names were in our record he had been unable to learn the present address, and thus, doubtless, there were some whom the notice had not reached.
