Hardcover. "Le Felibrige" provides an extensive historical and critical analysis of the 19th-century cultural movement dedicated to the restoration and promotion of the Provencal language and literature. Written by the esteemed scholar Emile Ripert, this work investigates the intellectual foundations and the artistic achievements of the Felibrige, the association of poets and writers led by the Nobel laureate Frederic Mistral. The text explores the movement's efforts to resist linguistic homogenization in France by revitalizing the "langue d'oc" and celebrating the unique heritage of the South. Ripert offers a comprehensive look at the key "felibres," examining their poetry, linguistic theories, and social influence. The study also contextualizes the movement within the broader European trend of romantic regionalism and linguistic nationalism. This volume is a crucial scholarly contribution for readers interested in French cultural history, Occitan studies, and the history of literature. By chronicling the struggle to preserve a distinct cultural voice, "Le Felibrige" highlights the enduring importance of regional identity in the modern era. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
