Fantasy Crow begins a trilogy of short-story collections by Keith Croes, whose mission seems to be to follow his imagination into whatever landscape attracts it. The author scatters shiny objects that draw us high or low through migratory routes dark or light, familiar or strange, comfortable or excruciating. There are echoes of masters here: Asimov, Heinlein, Bradbury, and others. But the stories not only stand on their own, but add a little something something. * A new ice age locks citizens into their anthill cities, but the season looks promising for the Philadelphia Eagles. * An orthopedic surgeon on a humanitarian mission to a war-torn African nation discovers that he's manufacturing a bionic army. * The U.S. space program, and the life of a would-be astronaut, hinges on the power of love. * An interstellar big-game hunter finds the ultimate predator at the the edge of the known universe. * If your neighborhood gnome is ticked off by urban pollution, consider a trip to the country. * Most murderers can be rehabilitated by a professionally guided introduction to the Akashic record. Most. There are many more, with some new twists in old-school sci-fi/fantasy. Get ready to fly.
Acerca del autor: Keith Croes and his wife, Elizabeth, live in Port St. Lucie on the Treasure Coast of Florida, not far from manatees. Keith's fiction carries echoes of old-school sci-fi/fantasy greats like Asimov, Heinlein, and Bradbury, with the modern edge of someone who knows basic HTML coding and updated to Windows 10 on the day of its release. He strives for the basic humanity that marks good writing of any kind, and wishes that he was as smart as elephants. So does Elizabeth, who loves elephants more than just about any human except her incredibly wonderful daughter, Laura. Keith has a son, Ken, who is also wonderful despite the fact that he almost never calls. Fortunately, Keith is patient and kind, and continues to hold out hope for seemingly impossible things. Such as civility and wisdom in elected officials. Keith was voted best dancer in his senior year of high school.
