Rich with color photographs that capture the hues of the season, this volume offers a species-by-species guide to the leaves of 100 species of the eastern United States and the fruits and seeds (the woodland harvests) of an additional 47 species, paying particular attention to the plants' locations and contributions to the fall color palate. The authors clearly explain the biological processes that result in leaf-color change and offer helpful tips on when and where to go see the best color.
Acerca del autor: C. Ritchie Bell is founding director of the North Carolina Botanical Garden and professor emeritus of botany at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is author or coauthor of nine books. Anne H. Lindsey is a plant taxonomist and pollination biologist. Husband and wife, Bell and Lindsey have previously collaborated on Wild Flowers of North Carolina (from the University of North Carolina Press).
