Alyssa Giacobbe grew up obsessed with fashion magazines and first began experimenting with makeup in the fifth grade with a 36-color eyeshadow palette and a preternaturally glamorous best friend. She has been writing and editing for magazines since 1998, when she landed her first job as an assistant editor at Elle. She has since held staffing positions at Harper's Bazaar, In Touch Weekly, Teen Vogue, and Boston, where she served as style director.
