Scuffed boards, Moderate edge-and-corner rubbing, foxing throughout, though no impediment to easy reading, some rippling to pages. LEATHERBOUND. Very sturdily bound, readable and fascinatingdocument of A complete (the fourth) bound year of the Quaker journal THE FRIEND, published out of Philadelphia, for two dollars per annum, each "Seventh Day", and labeled as such, and (here) commencing "Tenth Month" -- October 16, 1830 through October 8, 1831). Handsomely bound in light-brown, three-quarter leather marbled boards, lettered and ruled in gilt, with contrasting spine labels of saddle brown. Fascinating document issued from the very heart of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the foremost, perhaps original and probably most populous communities of The Religious Society of Friends. Articles within these bound covers include :The Penal Codes of Pennsylvania", to "The Jews"; to "Escape From A Lion"; "General Observations on the Structure and Offices of The Stomach - No. 2"; and "Col. James Smith's Narrative of his captivity, among the Indians, from the year 1755 until 1759. (Jan. 1, 1831); "The Sandwich Islands in 1829"; "Mexican Domestic Bees", etc. N° de ref. de la librería 68742
