This book presents 101 unique and extraordinary cases in interventional radiology (IR) and endovascular therapy. Extreme IR is an internationally recognized event that Dr. Ziv Haskal created and held in early 2000's at mountaintop venues, then at successive Society of Interventional Radiology annual conference meetings, and later, published monthly within the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) for which he was editor-in-chief for 10 years. The ever-popular Extreme IR sessions at conferences have drawn more than 5,000 attendees. Cases are presented in a rapid-fire format designed to maximize relevancy, excitement, and unique knowledge. This book aims to replicate that experience for a wider audience.
The book is divided into twelve sections, including venous, portal hypertension, and biliary, arterial, oncology, etc. cases. Most cases span two pages and include large, illustrative images with bullet-pointed text to present essential information in a concise and focused fashion. Acerca del autor
Prof. Dr. Ziv J Haskal is a tenured professor at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. After training in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University of California, San Francisco, he joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania in 1992, and moved to build interventional services at both the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University, and the University of Maryland, as professor and chief, then to the University of Virginia.
Prof. Haskal’s collective publications have been cited nearly 18,000 times. One paper alone, co-published across multiple journals, has been cited over 5100 times. His work has appeared in many journals, such as Circulation, Hepatology, CVIR, JVIR, Radiology and NEJM. He has led or participated in over 40 research trials, including TIPS stent graft , dialysis stent grafts, in-human interventional trans-arterial gene vector delivery; first demonstration of IR occupational radiation eye injury; accelerated pharmacomechanical deep vein interventions; randomized trials of dialysis stent grafts; liver transplant interventions; all aspects of embolization and interventional oncology, etc. His h-index is over 60.His career has been marked by innovations in education and teaching at all levels― from student-mentored papers, to the first online SIR case discussion board, the SIR Case Club; creating the demonstrative MasterClass form he led at many conferences; to the multi- and social media and virtual reality portfolio he pioneered within the JVIR. He is a world renowned and popular educator and lecturer, having given more than 700 invited lectures. He has served on or led numerous SIR, AHA, AASLD, ACR, SGI, ACC, and other Societal committees, and has been one of the longest serving members of the SIR Executive Committee and Foundation Board. He has been the President of two international societies.
In the last 15 years, Dr Haskal pivoted into leading editorial roles, from 5 years as deputy editor in chief at the CVIR, (doubling its impact factor), to serving an unprecedented two terms as the Editor in Chief of the JVIR―for 10 years. He reinvented the JVIR into its current form, creating its multimedia, expanded content, its writing seminars reaching >1000 learners worldwide; line-edited over 14,000 scientific manuscripts; nearly tripled its submissions and raised its impact factor to new heights.

Derecho al desistimiento

Tiene derecho a rescindir este contrato en un plazo de 14 días sin dar ningún motivo.
El periodo de desistimiento vencerá a los 14 días desde que usted, o un tercero que no sea el transportista e indicado por usted, adquiera la posesión física del último bien o del último lote o pieza.
Para ejercer el derecho de desistimiento, complete de forma electrónica y envíe una declaración clara en nuestro sitio web, desde "Mis compras" en "Mi cuenta". Le enviaremos sin demora un acuse de recibo de dicho desistimiento a través de un soporte duradero (por ejemplo, por correo electrónico).
Para cumplir con el plazo de desistimiento, basta con que envíe su comunicación relativa al ejercicio del derecho de desistimiento antes de que venza el periodo de desistimiento.
Efectos del desistimiento
Si rescinde este contrato, le reembolsaremos todos los pagos que hayamos recibido de usted, incluidos los gastos de envío (excepto los gastos adicionales que surjan si elige un tipo de envío que no sea el tipo de envío estándar más económico que ofrecemos).
Podemos hacer una deducción del reembolso por la pérdida de valor de cualquier bien suministrado, si la pérdida es el resultado de una manipulación innecesaria por su parte.
Efectuaremos el reembolso sin demoras indebidas y, a más tardar, 14 días después de que se nos informe de su decisión de rescindir este contrato.
Efectuaremos el reembolso utilizando el mismo medio de pago que utilizó para la transacción inicial, a menos que haya acordado expresamente lo contrario; en cualquier caso, no incurrirá en ningún cargo como resultado de dicho reembolso.
Podremos retener el reembolso hasta que hayamos recibido los bienes o hasta que nos haya presentado una prueba de que los ha devuelto, lo que ocurra primero.
Deberá devolver los bienes o entregarlos a BooksRun, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A., sin demoras indebidas y, en cualquier caso, en un plazo máximo de 14 días a partir del día en que nos comunique su desistimiento del presente contrato. El plazo se cumple si devuelve la mercancía antes de que venza el periodo de 14 días. Tendrá que asumir los gastos directos de devolución de los bienes. Usted solo es responsable de la disminución del valor de los bienes como resultado de una manipulación distinta a la necesaria para establecer la naturaleza, las características y el funcionamiento de los bienes.
Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
El derecho de desistimiento no se aplica a lo siguiente:
- La entrega de periódicos, diarios o revistas, con la excepción de los contratos de suscripción; y
- El suministro de contenido digital que no se proporcione en un soporte tangible (por ejemplo, en un CD o DVD) si, al hacer el pedido, aceptó que podíamos empezar a entregarlo y que no podría desistir una vez iniciada la entrega.
