Neuware - 'Extraits De La Chanson De Roland' provides a curated selection of the most significant passages from the premier masterpiece of medieval French literature. As a foundational work of the chanson de geste genre, 'The Song of Roland' recounts the epic confrontation at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass in 778 AD. The narrative centers on the valorous Count Roland, his legendary sword Durendal, and the tragic betrayal that leads to his heroic last stand against the Saracen forces.Edited by the esteemed scholar Gaston Paris, this volume offers a rigorous examination of the poem's linguistic beauty and historical depth. Paris's selection highlights the essential themes of feudal loyalty, religious devotion, and the chivalric code that defined the Middle Ages. Readers will find a compelling introduction to the world of Charlemagne and the poetic traditions that shaped European literature for centuries. This collection is an invaluable resource for students of philology, medieval history, and classic literature, preserving the rhythmic power and emotional resonance of this quintessential epic. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it. This work was reproduced from the original artifact, and remains as true to the original work as possible. Therefore, you may see the original copyright references, library stamps (as most of these works have been housed in our most important libraries around the world), and other notations in the work. This work is in the public domain in the United States of America, and possibly other nations.
