Perry's pioneer work, and the so-called Perry Movement for teaching mathematics in a practical way, will forever remain important monuments in the history of engineering education. Like many other pio neer works, Perry's Calculus proved to possess some de feets when used as a regular textbook, and several similar works by other writers followed it (see Appendix).
This book differs from that of Perry and his followers in two respects.
