When the renowned social scientist Erik Olin Wright passed away in 2019 at the height of his intellectual powers, he left behind an unfinished project intended to forge a connection between class analysis and real utopias. Michael Burawoy (1947-2025) was Professor of Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley.

Gay Seidman teaches sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where for many years, her office was next to Erik Wright's. Her books include Manufacturing Militance and Beyond the Boycott.
