One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S. V. D. provides children with an explanation of how to live out the Beatitudes of Jesus. The Beatitudes are teachings from Jesus that show us how to live a life full of love, kindness, and peace. Found in the Gospel of Matthew, the Beatitudes are like a guide for finding true happiness and being close to God. Each Beatitude starts with "Blessed are," which means "happy are those who..." Jesus gave us these teachings to show that happiness comes not from things we own but from how we treat others and live in God's love.

For example, Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God," which reminds us to help bring peace wherever we are. He also says, "Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy," encouraging us to be forgiving and kind to others.

Through the Beatitudes, Jesus teaches us that even when life is hard--when we are sad, feel small, or face unfairness--we are close to God. God promises to comfort us, reward us, and help us grow stronger in our faith. By following the Beatitudes, we learn to live as Jesus did, sharing love and hope, and finding joy in being close to God and others.
