"Educational Activities of New England Quakers" is a comprehensive historical study of the pedagogical philosophy and institutional developments of the Society of Friends in the New England region. Author Zora Klain provides a detailed analysis of how Quaker values-such as simplicity, equality, and community-shaped the educational landscape of the Northeast from the colonial era through the early twentieth century.

The work examines the establishment of primary and secondary schools, the specific curricula designed to foster both spiritual and secular knowledge, and the administrative structures that sustained these institutions. Klain explores the Quaker commitment to providing education for all, including their pioneering efforts in the instruction of women and marginalized groups. By investigating the internal records and societal impacts of these schools, the book offers valuable insights into the intersection of faith and learning in American history.

This scholarly investigation serves as an essential resource for those interested in the history of American education, the social history of New England, and the enduring legacy of Quakerism in the United States. It highlights the profound influence of the Friends' educational activities on the broader development of public and private schooling in the region.
