Author Amber Allison grew up in Georgia, exploring the coastal waters with her family. Recalling deeply treasured memories served as an inspiration for her book. Her great-grandparents picked oysters and crabs for food and income, and her parents put dinner on the table by way of nets cast out on the water. Allisons family has a large shrimp boat that trawls the waters for a bountiful harvest.

Down by the River shares Allison's joy in the region by capturing the same feelings and images that touched her childhood. Perfect for Georgia residents who want to instill that same delight in their homeland within their kids and grandkids, this book is a can't-miss opportunity to fall in love with the water as a family.
