CHAPTER 1
Dreams
God has placed within us a dream, desire, and a passion to catapult you into the purpose he has for your life. There is a plan for every trial, struggle, obstacle and victory you may face. Place your dreams on God's altar and watch him work a miracle in your life.
CHAPTER 2Discovered Promises
Discover according to dictionary.com means to find.
According to the Free Dictionary.com- 1a. Promise means a declaration assuring that one will or will not do something; a vow. (b) Something promised. 2. Indication of something favorable to come. 6. An undertaking or assurance given by one person to another agreeing or guaranteeing to do something or to give something.
Again, my definition of Discover means to uncover, or expose, and promise means to pledge, do or give. God gives His children promises or pledges throughout the bible to encourage us, to prove His love for us, to sustain us and provide for us if we believe in Him. God promises in His word: Psalm 89:34(KJV), My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. God made a promise to me that He would take care of me and give me a future; He promised that He would give me peace in the midst of my troubles, John 16:33 and John 14:27(NIV); He promised that if I called upon Him in my time of trouble He would answer me Psalm 50:15(NIV); so, I have the confidence and assurance that whatever I may face, good, bad, or indifferent, I can stand on the word of God - His promises! Everything will work in my favor and for my good. God's love is real, it's unshakeable, and His word says that there is nothing that can separate His love from me. That's a PROMISE!!
Discovered Promises mean that as you read and study your bible and spend time alone with God, you too will experience God in a new light. You will begin to develop a deeper and more intimate relationship as you begin to trust Him with your life. You too, will be able to stand on His word about His plans for you! Enjoy!
CHAPTER 3The Purpose of Seasons
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:1 that there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the Heaven. God gave us seasons. He is a God of purpose and order. Everything happens in His time and His way. No matter how hard we may try to hurry things in our lives, we cannot rush God. We cannot change the seasons that we are in. Seasons are repetitious; they come over and over again, in a circle. All of life must work in harmony or in unison with each other. Without seasons, we could not survive.
A season is a time frame or time line for something to happen. God gives us four seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Every season requires hibernation, change, direction and death. If we move ahead of God's time we fail to see the blessings he has for us. If we miss or try to skip a season by going ahead of God, we may hinder our own growth process and step outside of God's will for us. God's will for us is to be saved and display the fruit of His spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and temperance. But, if we are out of God's will and season for us, we cannot bear the proper fruit or lead others to Him.
So, as you pass and grow through each season of your life, reflect on how God has been there to carry you through each of your seasons. Embrace each change, direction, and opportunity God gives. Wait to be planted and used where God needs you to be. Wait for your season, and wait for God to grow you and strengthen you.
CHAPTER 4Passion
His eyes are like pools of tranquility, soft, warm, peaceful, always searching and focusing on me and my thoughts. His ears are listening, always in tune, eager to hear the slightest stirring or traces of sound. His lips speak words of encouragement, hope, praise, undying love, utmost affections, loving tenderly and unconditionally.
The arms of this man are always outstretched ready to receive and welcome; to hold and cradle when the cares of life overtake me. His arms are my haven from the storm, protecting and guiding me gently into safety.
Who am I speaking of so dear? He is the lover of my soul, my joy, my strength when I am weak. He is my help in my times of trouble. He is always there- making me feel special and unique. He came for me, searching for me until He found me. Now that He has me, I'm never letting Him go.
CHAPTER 5Peace in the midst of. ...
There will come a time or several times in your life when you feel that you can't go on, or that life is not worth the struggle, the pain or the tenacity to endure another test or trial.
In times like these, God says turn to me in your heart and I will be there to listen and comfort you. When you are discouraged and afraid to face your troubles, don't despair, just know that I am there. I am all that you need to see you through your darkest hour. Talk to me, cast your cares upon me, and rest your heart, mind and soul in me. Allow me to dry your tears and comfort you. My child, please know that I am always with you. I will never leave you; because I love you. I created you to communicate with me. Have faith in me as I carry you from valleys to mountains, from trouble and despair, to hope and happiness. Believe in me; trust me to fulfill your every need, no matter how big or small. Call upon me; I long to hear from you. My love for you is endless; my blessings for you are immeasurable.
Allow God's spirit to minister to you, comfort you and protect you. Allow Him to hover over you as a mother bird hovers over her babies. Let Him breathe on you and through you as you exhale. Feel His peace surround and soothe you. Remember He is always there. He is always there.
CHAPTER 6Encouragement for your soul
Whatever is troubling your heart and mind go to God in prayer, in Him peace you will find. He will fill your every need, your hungry down trodden soul He will feed.
Just go to the Father with all your cares from greatest to small and I guarantee you, he will solve them all.
Whatever you are going through is only a test to see if you will stand or fall. Remember, if you find yourself getting weak- go to God's word, His verses will pick you up quick!
So, do not despair, God knows how to handle you with care.
Place your life in His hands and God will be there to help you stand through your sunshine and rain.
Only God can ease and erase your pain
CHAPTER 7His Love
How much does God love me?
How many ways can I think of?
He descended upon me gently, almost like a dove.
He gave me a new life through His only begotten Son.
He gave me peace, joy and contentment when the storms of life came my way.
He outstretched His hand and said "I will never leave you or lead you astray.
I ask Him over and over why He loves me so. He gently whispers in my ear "My child, that's for me to know"
He told me not to worry or fret, but think of His love and the examples He has set.
When I begin to wonder again how much does He love me? I shall read and meditate on His word and know that He loves me more than I will ever know.
CHAPTER 8Know Your Worth
Exodus 35:30+Colossians 3:23-24xMatthew 17:20+Hebrews 11:1=Proverbs 18:16
Romans 8:28
Disclaimer: I am not a mathematician, in my learning career, mathematics and I never really seemed to get along. I would try to solve for x and wonder where the other letters disappeared to. We were incapable of having a wonderful relationship. But God showed me a new way to learn His math, and His math makes sense to me. So much so, that I would like to share it with you.
Exodus 35:30 tells us that God has given (Insert Your Name) skills, abilities, and knowledge to do all kinds of work.
Colossians 3:23-24 encourages us to work willing at whatever you do as though you were working for the Lord rather than people (NLT)-Because in essence, you are working for God. He has placed you where He needed you to be to lead someone to Him, to encourage someone, or for you to be encouraged or inspired. But also know that while you are working; develop your plan of action. The bible says in Habakkuk 2:2 to write your vision and make it plain (KJV). The Message Bible says Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters. So, this says to me, while I am working, writing my vision, and formulating a plan, I must PRAY!! What about you? What is your vision? What is your plan of action to execute your vision? Have you prayed about your vision for yourself? Your family? Philippians 4:6 says do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and supplication make your request known to God with thanksgiving. Then, have faith- Have faith in God- not in man or yourself, but God. You have prayed, petitioned, and wrote your plan (A, B, C, D); Now, you must put your faith to action. How? You must trust the process. Seek help from others, network among others; surround yourself with people who share the same vision as you. God will align your steps and place people in your life to guide you.
Matthew 17:20 tells us to have faith the size of a mustard seed (just a little bit).
Hebrews 11:1 encourages us to have now faith. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. I will break this down:
Now - present / today / at this moment- Faith (belief) is (a fact) the substance of (the materials, goods, possessions, potential, possibilities) things (accomplishments) hoped for; to bring together the Evidence (actual artifacts, proof) of things (stuff) Not (expressing opposite of something turn your negative into a positive) Seen (to see).
RLB's (That's me) remix of Hebrews 11:1 **At this moment, believe in what is true, which is God's word and promise for my life because it is a fact, that God orders my steps and that the anticipation and reality of my accomplishments will bring together proof that all that I have worked for will be brought to view for all to see.
Proverbs 18:16 says A man's(woman's) gift makes room for him(her) and brings him(her) before the great(English Standard Version). NIV says a gift opens the door, the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
Then, place all that you have, stand firm on God's promise of Romans8:28; If you stay focused and prayerful all things will work together for your good.
Conclusion: You recognize your gifts, talents, skills, and abilities that you are blessed with. Have faith, believe, step out on faith and trust God. Work to cultivate what God has given you. Read, learn, practice, and grow. Most of all Pray!! And it will come to pass! I'm a witness!!
CHAPTER 9Joy
God, when I tell you I love you. I am expressing to you how happy I am that you chose me, died for me and saved me from my sins.
When I tell you I love you, I am saying that without you in my life, I merely exist.
When I tell you I love you, I do not love you for what you can give materially; I love you for how you enhance me, emotionally and spiritually. My life is ordered and ordained by you to do great and marvelous things, for this I truly praise and honor you.
When I tell you I love you, I want you to see how much joy and happiness you bring to me.
Thank you Lord!!
CHAPTER 10The Weight of it all
We all want to be blessed, or desire to be blessed. We want blessings to be bestowed upon us in any way, shape, form, or fashion. We speak of blessings that can be seen by the naked eye, but God wants us to use our total being to discover all forms of His blessings. God wants to bring His children into total awareness of His sovereignty. Blessings are one of the many ways that the Father shows His love towards us. The Father gives us five senses that are known to man, hearing, taste, touch, smell, and sight to experience Him. But, did you know that there are five more? That we neglect to see our blessings in? They are the sense of weight (bariatric), kinesthetic (physical), temperature (degree of hot or cold), time, and pain (tolerance) God gave us these extra senses to use that we fail to realize that they can actually be blessings in disguise.
Ponder this. ... What will your blessing look like if it showed up to today? Would/Could you recognize it among everything else going on in your life-such as stress, bills, illness, job security and family obligations? How will your blessing make you feel when it finally comes after you have prayed and fasted for what seems to be an eternity? Will you feel happy, joyful, frustrated, overwhelmed? Again, when we think of blessings, we think of the tangible. Would you be able to receive your blessing through just hearing the word of confirmation through song, poem, sermon, advice or by other auditory means?
If you could taste your blessing, what would it taste like? Sour, sweet, bittersweet? The bible says in reference to God's goodness "Oh taste and see that the Lord is good!" If you could smell your blessing, what would it smell like? The word says in Psalm 141:2 May my prayer be set before you like incense (NIV). If you could touch your blessing what would it feel like? The woman with the issue of blood felt her blessing radiate throughout her body when she touched the hem of his garment.
If you could weigh your blessing in pounds, how would you do it? Sometimes we tend to weigh our blessings by the good that we do, or by comparing the size of blessings to others; God is no respecter of person his blessings are for those who receive him. What He has done for others he can do for you as well.
Will you exercise (Kinesthetic) your faith to receive your blessing? The bible says faith without works is dead. You have to put in some work, perseverance, and prayer to see your blessings manifest. Do you feel the pressure of your blessing coming forth? The book of James 1:3 says that when your faith is tested your endurance has a chance to grow (NLV).
The sense of temperature is another form of God's blessing. The body's natural defense mechanism is designed to cool or heat the body. But, in terms of blessings, are you a cold, hot, or lukewarm Christian? Can God depend on you to do His will? Are there times in your life when you are so eager to do the will of the Lord that you can't wait to start, only to become disinterested, unfulfilled or scared because of your past, circumstances or life in general? These are the times that God needs you the most. He wants you to depend and trust on Him so that His will can manifest through you.
The sense of time / movement refers to God's timing for his blessings to occur; When your blessing show up, do you ask God, "Lord why now? How come you didn't give this to me when I asked for it? How come I had to wait so long? Example: Your blessing seems to come in the midst of turmoil. Take for instance, Abraham and his wife Sarah, they were 100 and 90 respectfully and God gave them a child at their age! Imagine that! being a first time parent well after childbearing age; talk about timing! Remember, God's timing is not our timing.
I began writing when I was in my early twenties as a way to express my feelings. Whatever was on my mind at the time I wrote about it; I would write on anything. Little did I realize God was preparing me to discover my passion for writing. I kept my feelings and emotions to myself. God revealed to me twenty plus years later that it was time to compile my writings into a book. I never considered publishing any of my writings, but God had a different plan for me. I experienced every emotion known to man. I was afraid, nervous, apprehensive, and excited all at the same time. I was writing a book! Me! A woman from Augusta, Georgia, writing a book! Becoming a published author! Me! Talk about God's timing! God can use you at any age, from any point in your life and any location for His will to be done through you. When I began writing my first book DiscoveredPassion, I did not have the finances at the time to publish, but God provided ways for me to receive the funds I needed to bring my book forth. I learned at that point in my life to truly step out on faith. In all things trust God.
In conclusion, look beyond your five senses and explore and discover other ways to see God's blessings around you. God is always around you in every way, shape, form or fashion; you just have to pay attention and receive. Be Blessed!
