In folio grande (cm 23,3 x 35,5), legatura piena pergamena coeva, rinforzo coevo, in pergamena, al dorso a cinque nervi, titolo calligrafato, mancanza di pergamena di circa 2,5 cm alla cuffia inferiore, ma capitello e cuciture saldi e integri. Pp (20), 41, (1), 1238 (i.e. 1236), 6. Carta pesante vergellata e filigranata, interno in buone condizioni malgrado sporadiche macchie e bruniture, un lavoro di tarlo nel margine interno inferiore, senza perdita di testo, anticamente restaurato con sovrapposizione di carta, che interessa una settantina di cc iniziali. Ex libris ottocentesco alla sguardia, e altro ex libris manoscritto coevo dei Cappuccini della Concezione di Milano, il famoso "Convento di Porta Orientale" dei Promessi Sposi, fondato nel 1599 e soppresso nel 1810, celebre per la ricca biblioteca dove convergevano documenti di grande importanza, essendo il centro dell'archivio storico dell'Ordine. Prima edizione di summa esoterica dell'astrologo cappuccino Ivo da Parigi (1590-1678), di cui non compare traccia nei repertori antichi; la "Bibliotheca scriptorum Capucinorum" del 1747 dedica quasi una pagina all'A., ma cita altre opere, e evidenzia che "dalla Santa Sede l'A. fu pi? volte ammonito e alcuni suoi libri proscritti". La Biographie Universelle, cita altre opere, e attribuisce a Ivo da Parigi la"Astrologia nova methodus F. Allei, arabis christiani", Rennes, 1654-55, edizione bruciata a Nantes. Franciscus Allei ? uno degli pseudonimi dello scomodo autore di pronostici politici puntualmente avveratisi, espressi nel Fatum Universi (1655), in epoca di reiterate bolle pontificie contro l'astrologia, nonch? della Theologia Naturalis (1633), apologia della divinazione. Il libro che presentiamo ? compendio di teosofia combinatoria, dall'A. mutuata da Raimondo Lullo e che unisce in armonioso sincretismo Ermete, Paracelso, Alberto Magno, Scoto Eriugena, Ficino. Il volume ? impreziosito da grande, perfetta volvella a sei dischi rotanti sovrapposti (secondo l'Ars Combinatoria ripresa poi da Leibniz), corredato da Tabula Combinationis e dalle centinaia di combinazioni enucleate dall'A., di cui tutto il libro ? spiegazione; questo, secondo il suggestivo principio lulliano per cui attraverso le combinazioni dei concetti iscritti sui dischi della rotella, si possano ricavare i principia della conoscenza umana e divina, e quindi tutte le possibili Verit? Numerose pagine sono consacrate all'enumerazione delle propriet? alchemiche di piante e metalli; alla fisiognomica, suddivisa in capitoli su ogni parte del viso; agli eretici. L'opera ? unicum che, anche nella veste grafica, suggerisce agli iniziati sconcertanti analogie, giocate costantemente sull'ortodossia dichiarata che maschera una pesante, oggettiva eterodossia. Quattro pagine fitte di Approbationes e Privilegi seguono beffardamente il nitido frontespizio bicolore, dominato dalla grande impresa tipografica di Dionysius Thierry raffigurante il martirio, sulla sommit? di Montmartre, di San Dionigi, il vescovo di Parigi che, prima della conversione ad opera di S. Paolo, fu identificato nel grande astrologo iniziato ai misteri eleusini, fondatore sull'Aeropago di Atene di celebre scuola esoterica, e il cui "corpus dionysiacum" fu dichiarato eretico al Concilio di Costantinopoli dell'869. Sotto testatine zoomorfe brulicanti di edenici serpenti, si dissimulano citazioni dalle "Gerarchie celesti" dell'Aeropagita. Libro inquietante, dove migliaia di aforismi ordinatamente "digesti", minuziosamente suddivisi, tratti dai Padri, dai due Diritti, dalla Bibbia, dai filosofi eterodossi, attendono ancora il loro illuminato esegeta.
