nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - In a silent monastery of thirteenth-century Bohemia, a single monk created the largest handwritten book in history - a work so vast, so flawless, and so shrouded in legend that it came to be known as The Devil's Bible. The Devil's Bible: Codex Gigas unveils the extraordinary story behind this colossal manuscript - its origins, mysteries, and the mind that forged it. Through meticulous research and vivid storytelling, Enya Reid brings to life the world that gave birth to the Codex Gigas: a realm where faith and fear walked side by side, where medicine blended with magic, and where a single act of devotion became a monument to human endurance.Within these pages, readers will discover the true contents of the Codex Gigas - the sacred scriptures, the ancient histories, the exorcisms, and the remedies once believed to heal both body and soul. They will witness the portrait of the devil that terrified generations, the legends of pacts and punishments, and the miracle of a book that has survived fire, war, and time itself.Drawing on verified historical sources, Reid explores the manuscript's journey from a forgotten Bohemian monastery to the halls of emperors and scholars. She reveals how myth, faith, and science converged within its pages, and why the Codex Gigas continues to haunt the imagination of the modern world.Beautifully written and richly detailed. The Devil's Bible: Codex Gigas is not only a study of one of history's most enigmatic works - it is a meditation on creation itself, on the eternal tension between light and shadow, knowledge and faith, and the unbroken will to preserve meaning through centuries of silence.…
