Neuware - The Keep survived the whispers. Now the five who saved it must go down into what sent them. The road north ends at the caves. The truth begins beneath them. Daran, Barek, Kaela, Caldus, and Renault walk out the northern gate as heroes on a leash - stripped of the relics they carried back, trusted just enough to be sent where no patrol returns. Their orders: find the source of the Chaos and end it. What they find is no warren of Grellkins. It is a sunless kingdom: halls drowned in black water, a forest of singing fungus, forges that have burned for a thousand years tended by the skeletal faithful - and above it all, a being called the Architect, who speaks in cold equations and has been waiting a very long time for someone like Renault. Because the Chaos does not want to destroy the scholar who hears its whispers. It wants to wear him. As the descent strips the company of weapons, of certainties, and finally of each other, Renault learns why the deep places know his name - and what the Keep's founders buried beneath its first stone. The five who go down will not all come back the same. Some will not come back at all. The Keep was never a fortress. It was a lid. Law endures - quietly. The Depths of Chaos is the second book of the Chaos Chronicles, an old-school dungeon-crawl fantasy saga in the spirit of the classic adventures - torchlight, ten-foot dread, and the doors that should have stayed shut. Includes two illustrated maps of the Depths. Begin the series with Chaos at the Keep.…

The road north ends at the caves. The truth begins beneath them.
Daran, Barek, Kaela, Caldus, and Renault walk out the northern gate as heroes on a leash — stripped of the relics they carried back, trusted just enough to be sent where no patrol returns. Their orders: find the source of the Chaos and end it.
What they find is no warren of Grellkins. It is a sunless kingdom: halls drowned in black water, a forest of singing fungus, forges that have burned for a thousand years tended by the skeletal faithful — and above it all, a being called the Architect, who speaks in cold equations and has been waiting a very long time for someone like Renault.
Because the Chaos does not want to destroy the scholar who hears its whispers.
It wants to wear him.
As the descent strips the company of weapons, of certainties, and finally of each other, Renault learns why the deep places know his name — and what the Keep's founders buried beneath its first stone. The five who go down will not all come back the same. Some will not come back at all.
The Keep was never a fortress. It was a lid.
Law endures — quietly.
