For centuries, Etrigan the Demon and the immortal human Jason Blood have been bound to each other by an eternal curse--sometimes working in uneasy cooperation, sometimes fighting in bitter opposition, but always together. Until now.

When a nuclear blast demolishes Death Valley, it does more than turn a dry patch of ground into a hellish nightmare. It transforms Etrigan into a towering monster, free to rampage through the land of the living--and leaves Blood an incorporeal ghost, ready and willing to haunt his alter ego from beyond the mortal plane.

But even with their roles reversed, these timeless frenemies must remain united if they want to survive what's coming next. The atomic fire has torn a hole in the barrier between Earth and Hell, and the pair must seek out the help of their old ally Madame Xanadu to discover who set this diabolical plan in motion--and why one small child seems to be immune to the supernatural forces it has unleashed.

But can an insubstantial Jason Blood contain Etrigan's rage long enough to save the world? Or will the rhyming demon instead crown himself king of this new infernal realm?
