Paperback. "A veteran doesn't get taken down by the inferno. She gets taken down by a bag of pretzels."Gio has spent fifteen years in the sky, and she is fried. Not the complaining kind, the kind who has survived a birth mid-flight, turbulence that makes atheists pray, and two-hundred-pound drunks, only to find that what finally breaks her is the small stuff. The second coffee cart that jams. The pen that never comes back. The cold side of the bed, because her husband, also crew, lands right as she takes off.In Delayed Flight, the flight attendant with no filter gives you the B-side of the glamour, the part that never makes the brochure: the rosters that erase your Christmas, the "operational reasons" that explain everything and nothing, the "a million girls would kill for your job" (let them come, she will save them the Christmas Eve shift), and the question that haunts anyone who has been holding on too long. What if I actually quit?Dark humor, sharp sarcasm, and a warmth that sneaks up on you. If you have ever felt burned out at work, even if you do not fly, you will recognize yourself on every page, and you will laugh at all the things that sometimes make you want to cry.Buckle up.
