Print on Demand. This book examines the life and presidency of Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the United States. Pierce, born in New Hampshire in 1804, served in the state legislature before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and later the U.S. Senate. He resigned from the Senate in 1842 to return to his law practice in Concord, New Hampshire. In 1852, he was nominated as the Democratic candidate for president and won the election. Pierce's presidency was marked by controversy, particularly over the issue of slavery. He supported the Compromise of 1850, which aimed to resolve tensions between the North and South but ultimately failed to do so. Pierce also signed the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which allowed for the expansion of slavery into new territories. These actions alienated many in the North and contributed to the growing tensions that led to the Civil War. Despite the challenges he faced, Pierce remained a popular figure in New Hampshire. He died in Concord in 1869. This book offers a comprehensive account of Pierce's life and presidency, providing valuable insights into a complex and pivotal period in American history. Efectos del desistimiento

Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
