Paperback. At dusk on an ordinary October evening, every engine in Flagstaff stops at once. Every phone goes black. Every car sits dead in the road. Marcus Reed, a former soldier with a bad knee and a house full of quiet preparations, knows exactly what it means. An electromagnetic pulse has just erased the modern world, and he has about three days before seventy thousand desperate people start tearing the city apart. His only plan is to reach home. But within the first hour, a scream in a parking lot pulls him into a fight that changes everything, and he picks up the first of the people he will spend the longest night of his life trying to keep alive.A nurse who's not afraid to use a gun and never flinches. A boy with a broken arm running from men who take children. A girl hiding a terrible secret under the floorboards. And out in the dark, a man named Silas who saw the collapse coming and built a fortress to rule whatever came after, a warlord already hunting anyone worth caging.Told hour by desperate hour across a single night and the days that follow, this is a story of ordinary people discovering what they are capable of when everything is stripped away. Of a scattered county learning it can fight back. And of one man who set out to survive alone and found something worth more than survival. They broke the machine. They freed the prisoners. They thought they had won. They were wrong. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…
