Sinopsis:

Information systems research addresses a wide range of issues concerning the technology, development and management of information systems as well as their organizational and social impacts. This volume brings together and critically analyzes a number of important issues currently facing the field. In Part 1, the chapters focus on issues associated with the practice of analyzing and designing information systems. The chapters present a broad view of practice including the sociology of knowledge, the responsibility of professionals and the effectiveness of tools and procedures. In Part 2, the chapters focus on the social context of information systems. The chapters address the way we think about and research the organizational antecedents and consequences of information systems, their diffusion and our ability to understand their repercussions in the wider network of changing social relations.
