Three Volumes: size of bindings: 5 ¾ in. x 8 5/8 in. x 1 ½ in. (thick); Volume 1: [xii], [1]-585 pp.; Volume 2: [iv-vi], [1]-611 pp.; Volume 3: [iv-vi], [1]-667, including index (volumes 2 + 3 lack the half-titles). A specially bound prize presentation set, bound by J. Low, with their printed ticket in the back of the first volume, and front of volumes 2 & 3: J. Low, Binder, 43 Southampton Buildings Chancery Lane. Bound in full maroon morocco leather with five raised bands on the spine, with gilt-lettered titles, and richly gilt floral designs in the spine compartments, gilt borders around the covers, on cover edges, and gilt dentelles on leather turn-ins; with the gilt arms of the Incorporated Law Society of the United Kingdom, on each front cover: [motto]: Leges Juraque Servamus. Instituted: 1827. Incorporated: II W. IV: [William IV] Re-Incorporated: VIII: Vic. [Victoria]; headbands, all edges gilt; with blue-green marbled endpapers. Former owner's printed book label pasted to the marbled endpaper in volume 1. A few small indentations to leather on front cover of volume 2, small, light abrasion to leather surface on front cover of volume 3; a few light scratches to cover surfaces. Overall, a fine set. The marbled paper paste-down in volume one, has the printed and hand-written, (4 3/4 in. x 7 in.) prize sheet pasted in, this is filled in by a calligraphic hand, and is signed by the then Incorporated Law Society President, Henry H. Fowler, [ { } = calligraphy]: {December 1901}. The "Mellersh" Prize awarded by The Incorporated Law Society of the United Kingdom As a special honorary distinction, to {Mr. John Wilfred Watkin}, who served his Clerkship, before admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court, to {Mr. John Woodlands Watkin of Railway Approach London Bridge S.E.} [signed]: Henry H Fowler President.
