William Ogilvy Kermack (1898-1970) and Anderson Gray McKendrick (1897-1943), "A Contribution to the Mathematical Theory of Epidemics" parts I-III, all bound in three volumes of the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London 1927, 1932, and 1933. II. The Problem of Endemicity" (Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, A 138 pp. 55-83, 1932 in the volume of 722pp); and "Contributions to the Mathematical Theory of Epidemics. III. Further Studies of the Problem of Endemicity" (in Proceedings of the Royal Society of London A 141, pp. 94-122, in the volume of 746pp, 1933). All are bound in an identical cloth bindings (250x175mm) which are very stout and very strong. There are a few scuffs here and there but overall the bindings are a solid Very Good. The text is fresh, crisp, and bright and in FINE condition. [++] The work done here in these three papers by Kermack and McKendrick laid the foundation for modern epidemiology and helped in understanding the dynamics of infectious disease outbreaks. They introduced what is now known as the Kermack-McKendrick epidemic model (also known as the Kermack-McKendrick theory or the Susceptible-Infectious-Removed (SIR) model), which is a compartmental model that divides a population into different compartments. The model's basic idea is that the population moves between these compartments over time based on the transmission dynamics of the disease.
